Complaint: The Wicked Camper van had painted on it a sexually based comment about women's legs.
Complainant, F. Murphy, said it was offensive and smutty, and not appropriate for children or tourists to see.
The relevant provisions were Basic Principle 4 and Rules 4 and 5 of the Code of Ethics.
The Chairman accepted the complaint for consideration by the Complaints Board. The Advertiser, Wicked Campers, replied that they had no record whatsoever of having that saying on any of their vans and that it appeared that it could have been spray painted on by someone other than Wicked Campers. However, they gave an undertaking to remove the line when the van arrived back.
The Chairman noted the circumstances around the material subject to complaint and the self-regulatory undertaking to remedy the situation given by the Advertiser.
Accordingly, she said the matter was resolved and it would serve no further purpose to place it before the Complaints Board.
The Chairman ruled the complaint was resolved.
Chairman's Ruling: Complaint Resolved
