Complainant: M. Edmonds
Complaint: The website advertisement for Biovea as featured at http://www.biovea.com which advertised Detox Food Pads stated that they "Detoxify while you sleep. Helps Remove Toxins. Improves Circulation. Combats Fatigue...". The advertisement continues to provide details about the ingredients of the product including that "Tourmaline is best know as one of the only minerals to emit far infared heat - which causes resonance in the body at the same frequency as water".
Complainant, M. Edmonds, was of the view that the advertisement promoted an unreasonable fear of toxins and that the claims of what the foot pads can do are not supported by science.
The relevant provisions were Principles 2 and 3 of the Therapeutic Products Advertising Code.
The Advertiser, Biovea, said: "The product "Detox Foot Pads" has been removed from our online store".
The Chairman noted the explanation of the Advertiser that the advertisement had been removed. The Chairman, noting this self regulatory action, said that it would serve no further purpose to place the matter before the Complaints Board. The Chairman ruled that the matter was settled
Chairman's Ruling: Complaint Settled
