DATE OF MEETING

OUTCOME

Complaint: According to the Complainant, the advertisement on the Wicked Campers vehicle included the text:

"It takes many nails to make a crib, but just one screw to fill it."

The Complainant, B. Harkness, said in part: "...adult humour not appropriate in the public arena... My young children were in the car with me while we were following the camper, they read it and asked me to explain what it meant."

Further correspondence from the Complainant said: "unfortunately that is the only photo I have... Sorry I can't help further.
The relevant provisions appear to be Basic Principle 4 and Rules 4 and 5 of the Code of Ethics.

The Chairman noted the concerns of the Complainant the advertisement was offensive and could be seen by children.

The Chairman said the picture provided was not clear enough and noted the advice from the Secretariat that despite several attempts to get in contact with the Advertiser, no was response was received.

Unfortunately, as there was not a clear advertisement to adjudicate on, the Chairman ruled the complaint be withdrawn.

Chairman's Ruling: Complaint Withdrawn
