COMPLAINT NUMBER 16/137

COMPLAINANT A. Dixon ADVERTISER Wicked Campers ADVERTISEMENT Wicked Campers Vehicle DATE OF MEETING 10 June 2016

OUTCOME Withdrawn

Advertisement: Numerous Wicked Campers vehicles containing words and images that were offensive. Examples included "Humans were made upright so that they were better able to masturbate" and "I wish you were a door so I could slam you all day long."

The Chair ruled the complaint was withdrawn.

Complainant, A. Dixon, said in part: "They adorn their vehicles with lewd and smutty slogans. I give examples of 4 below I cannot quote registration numbers as usually I see them when driving past. The text is approximate only-- I have had to remember what was said when accessing pencil and paper later.

Their slogans are offensive and give the impression that New Zealand culture accepts lewd and low life' behaviour.'

The relevant provisions were Basic Principle 4 and Rules 4, 5 of the Code of Ethics. The Chair noted that the Complainant listed a number of slogans that they considered to be

offensive. As part of the ASA Process the Chair has to view a copy of the advertisements,

however the Secretariat was not able to source copies of the advertisements subject to complaint.

In light of this, the Chair had no alternative but to rule the Complaint was Withdrawn.
