Advertisement:
The television advertisement for the new Foton Tunland car showed
images of the car being driven in different senarios, including a car stopping on yellow lines
to let children out.

The Chair ruled the complaint was Settled.

Complainant,
J.Wilson, said: Just seen the new Foton Tunland advertisement on Channel
3, which shows the vehicle stopping illegally on a yellow line. Extremely poor example being
set.

The Advertiser said: ... "Thank you for forwarding on the complaint details. This is
something we treat very seriously and we have taken immediate steps to remove the dotted
yellow lines from the creative. The new version will be on screens from today and the
previous version has been removed.

We shot these scenes on private property at a local school where parents drop off and pick
up their kids on a daily basis and I think that is why our creative team have overlooked the
road markings..."

The relevant provisions were Code for Advertising Vehicles - Guideline 2 (d),
Principle 2.

The Chair noted the Complainant's concern the advertisement showed illegal driving
practices which set a bad example.

The Chair acknowledged the Advertiser had made changes to the advertisement, removing
the image which was of concern.

Given the Advertiser's co-operative engagement with the process and the self-regulatory
action taken in amending the advertisement, the Chair said that it would serve no further
purpose to place the matter before the Complaints Board. The Chair ruled that the matter
was settled.

Chair's Ruling: Complaint Settled
